Take it Easy
Lack of sleep will likely be one of the main reasons for exhaustion so it is important to nap whenever you get a chance. Sleep when the baby sleeps and in no time you will be feeling more refreshed. If you are struggling with daytime napping choose a quiet room where you can draw the curtains and play some white noise or rain sound it can really help with the relaxation.
I can’t stress enough the importance of this. There is no such thing as a perfect mother or a perfect baby. Lower your standards for yourself and don’t expect to be able to handle everything on your own without any bumps. Something didn’t go according to plan? It happens! Try to move on, learn from the mistakes and take things one day at a time.
Get Comfortable with Feeding in Public.
This is essential in order to avoid stressful outings with a crying baby on your arm. Wear comfortable clothes that make breastfeeding simple and accessible at any time. Don’t ever feel uncomfortable to feed your newborn baby in public.

At an early stage, it might take some time and some trial and error to find a schedule that works for everyone. But, over time all the puzzle pieces will fall into place and it will make your life much easier in the long run.

Get someone to look after the newborn baby sometimes and leave the house every once in a while. Even 30 minutes on your own will make a huge improvement in your general well-being. It often feels like that the baby should be your absolute priority but if you burn out you won’t be able to do your best.

Make sure most tasks are split between the two of you and discuss all plans beforehand. It’s important to be on the same page, after all, you should be working as a team. There will be times when you disagree on different elements of parenting and that’s the time to learn how to compromise. Try to meet halfway and be there for each other after all you are in this together.

Sometimes motherhood can get overwhelming and when that happens. Remember to focus on the little things that make you happy. Take some time to create memories, take some pictures, or even start a journal recording these precious moments. Enjoy this time, it’ll fly past quicker than you think!

You just gave birth, give your body some time to adjust. Have a lot of comfortable postpartum clothes at hand and make sure you stock up on maternity pads as you will likely bleed a lot.

The last thing you want to do is a long shopping spree during the first week. Have all the essentials and your favorites readily available in your kitchen. You can even do a meal-prep before the baby comes and keep the food in the freezer.
All mothers, babies and households are different. You do you! Keep in mind that most people only share the happy moments on social media and you don’t see the mess, the meltdowns, and tears behind those happy photos that make it online. It may seem that some people are handling things better than you but this is not a competition, and you should not give yourself unreachable standards. Motherhood is messy and chaotic at times. There is no blueprint to follow, what works for others might not work for you and that’s completely fine. Focus on the happy moments, and enjoy the ride!
